I, Nick Andrews (The Developer), make my best effort to safeguard any information stored on this website, WWW.THERESEARCHDIRECTOR.COM, and I take steps to protect it. This website hosts a computer application (The System) written by The Developer. It is meant to to record time spent on different work projects.

I do collect information via feedback forms and the login process. This is done to verify your identity and thereby protect the information stored at the website. I will not under any circumstances share, rent, sell or offer the information stored on this website to third parties for any reason excepting the law of the land. I reside in Canada, the server is located in the United States of America.

How Secure is it?

You are actually the only person with the password for the account you register here. If it is lost, the email address you used to create your account can be used to reset the password. This is the only way for you to access your information once the password is lost. Even The Developer will not be able to tell you what your password is. The best passwords are random combinations of digits and characters.

Information Storage

Data is stored on servers owned and managed by an American company called Dreamhost.com. The information collected and entered by you is stored in MySQL databases. It is not encrypted and, as is normal for websites without an HTTPS address, it can be read in transmission. The staff of the hosting company can read the information since it is stored in their servers. The Developer can also read the information. DO NOT store personal identification such as social insurance numbers, credit card information, passport data or secure ID information in the The System.

Access To Your Personal Information

The System uses one single randomly generated cookie which is sent to your browser. It is entitled 'Researcher' and will expire after a few days, or you may delete it. The cookie The System sends to you is meant to recall your last page settings and present information according to your personal preferences.

The System provides an online account manager tool, which allows you to change, edit or correct the personal information you have entered.

The System collects information tracking your interactions within the web application, such as IP address and your site usage.

Changes to The Privacy Policy

Changes made will be published here. They will not be retroactive. A distinctive icon or bulletin link to the Privacy Policy will be on the main page of the website.

To the best of The Developer's knowledge, any sites linked to are neither fraudulent, illegal nor misrepresenting their true purpose, however The Developer is not responsible for the content of other websites linked to.

Spam and Email

The Developer does not send SPAM or email marketing messages. The System will allow registered users to send email communications to their associates. This is done in order to allow people to manage group networks. The Developer strongly objects to The System being used for spamming or sending unwanted emails. It will not be tolerated and The Developer will investigate any reports that this has happened. Offensive behaviour by a user of the The System will result in account termination. Account termination means that all records attributed to the offensive user will be erased. More severe actions will be taken by The Developer if the circumstances warrant.
