Search my Time Card entries

This web site was built with a combination of software modules designed and written by the developer. They bear some explaining because the encapsulated functionality differs from other web applications.

The User Log In: The secure user log in system relies on an email address and password. The password users register with the system is not recoverable if it is lost. The only way to regain access to a system account is for the user to reset the password using their email address. The login fields are at the top of the web site page in the upper most left hand corner. To log in, the user must enter their email address and the correct password exactly as it was initally created. When a user successfully logs in to the system they will have access to the Time Sheet system.

The Calendar: The calendar is found in the upper left corner of the web site underneath the the user log in. The first time the user visitis the page the calendar will be set to the current date. The calendar can be changed to a different date. This is useful when you want to record a Time Card entry for work performed at an earlier time period. When opened up, the calendar shows you a strip of dots. The light colored dots are the days of the current week (Mon- Sun). The darker dots represent the different weeks of the month. To change the week you are looking at, click the week number [1- 6]. To change the active date, click a light colored dot in the week you selected. The active date is shown at the far left of the calendar strip between the two rounded arrow head shapes. The dot representing the date you select will turn red. If the date selected is different from the current date, then you will have a prompt at the right of the dot strip that lets you reset to the current date.

The Clock: The clock is a stopwatch you can use to accurately record a time interval. You can stop and start it repeatedly. It will track the total time and the most recent time segment you captured. To open the stopwatch click the beveled round gear shape in the upper left corner of the page. The stopwatch has a green button for starting the clock and a red button to stop it. The time will continue to add up each time you stop and start it unless you reset the stopwatch. To reset the stopwatch, first stop the clock. Then, press the small black and white striped button to the left of the time display. If you log out with time left on the clock, you will be reminded of this next time you log back in.

The Menu: The menu is a dynamic vertical strip of buttons below the stopwatch. When you first visit, the menu choices are all closed. To open up all the menu choices click the very bottom button which is a downward arc shape underneath the last tab button. To close the menu, click the uppermost button; the top arc shape. Different menu sections can be opened and closed independently from each other. If the current page you are viewing is one of the menu choices then, that link will be highlighted. The menu will hold its open and close positions for as long as you remain logged into the system.

The Search System: The search system is located in the upper right of the web site page. The search results appear underneath. It is a keyword /phrase based search tool that will return results from four key areas of the Time Sheet system. These four areas are represented by tabs above the search text input field. The tabs set the search location to a specific database : Time Card entries, Client Contacts, Help System, Invoice Documents. If you are a registered user and you have entered data, then you will start to see more search results as time passes since there will be more records to search through. If your search returns more than 10 results then you will be given a button for results 1-10, 11-20 etc. The results will be ranked in order and frequency of occurrence.

Using Forms: Most forms and field inputs in this web application are designed to immediately record data as soon as you make a change. This reduces the need for a separate form button called [SUBMIT]. This is done to reduce the nerve and bone damaging effects of repetitive mouse clicking. Form elements that are set to automatically record your changes are color coded with red letters on a grey background.

Alert Messages: From time to time the system will prrompt you with an alert message when a significant change is about to occur or, when a specifc action is required by you. The alert message will be a large grey box with a dashed red border. This message will not clear form the screen until you complete the action it is prompting you for.

Design: The Time sheet system was designed to look like a vintage work desk. It was a completely subjective choice on the part of the developer. As well, there is no logo used to represent the Time Sheet system as the system is designed to serve you and not itself.
